Ale & Tale Tavern – All Potions (Prerequisites)
To unlock potion crafting, you first need to complete the quest for the herbalist. The reward for completing this quest is the alchemical lab, where you’ll brew potions using ingredients found throughout the game. Along with the lab, you’ll also earn the achievement “Don’t Look Under the Pot” upon completing this quest.
Potion Crafting
Setting up your alchemical station is straightforward—it’s placed in the tavern much like a stove. Once set, the lab is ready for brewing. The ingredients for crafting potions can be gathered from various locations in the game world.
In addition to regular potions, there are two special items you can craft: the Resurrection Crystal and the Grindstone. Crafting any item, including potions, involves adding two different ingredients into the cauldron’s UI. The type of ingredients doesn’t matter, but the correct combinations will produce the desired potions or items. The table below shows the according recipes, though some duplicate recipes are blacked out to avoid confusion.
Related Achievements
There are several achievements related to potion crafting, and these can be earned by every player in a multiplayer game.
Amanita Achievement
The first and easiest achievement involves consuming the Amanita ingredient—a red mushroom with white dots found in the forest. When consumed, Amanita deals 30 damage over time, with each tick dealing 1 damage. It’s a simple achievement to get early in the game.
Potion Crafting Progression Achievements
As you brew potions for your adventures, you’ll naturally unlock achievements as part of your progression. Some of these achievements include:
- “Why Do All Potions Smell So Bad” – This achievement is unlocked by crafting 10 potions.
- “The Smell Doesn’t Matter When the Potion’s Done Right” – This achievement requires 25 potions, marking your progress as an experienced potion brewer.
Simultaneous Potion Effects Achievement
One of the more challenging achievements requires applying the effects of two specific potions—the Big Health Increase Potion and the Physical Resistance Potion—to a single player at the same time. The good news is that you don’t need to brew these potions yourself; the achievement can be completed simply by using them.
“Looks Like I’m Going to Live Forever”
This achievement is unlocked once you have brewed every potion available in the game. It’s a late-game achievement, as some of the ingredients needed for the final potions are only found in the final dungeon. Interestingly, you don’t have to defeat the boss to complete this achievement. In fact, it’s recommended to farm materials while the boss is still alive, as defeating it will prevent mobs from spawning, making it harder to gather the necessary ingredients.
